Error message while trying to copy text in Photoshop from a web page.

"Impossible d'exécuter la commande Coller le texte car les données du Presse-papiers sont vides ou incorrectes."

Mac OS 10.10 and Photoshop CC 2014 (works fine on 1 computer and give me the error message on another one with the same configuration).

Does it paste correctly into a different app?

Hey Jeffrey,
Thanks for your reply.

Yes, it does : I can paste correctly in Illustrator for instance while I cannot in Photoshop.

The only workaround is to paste the text in a program such as textEdit first to remove the formatting then paste it in Photoshop.

This problem has been discussed on the French Adobe forum with several users having the same trouble.

Ok. Any suspicions about what might cause it? (special characters/encoding?)

I've asked a couple folks more familiar with text and localization issues.

I don't think it has anything to do with some special characters.
Just trying to paste the single letter 'a' or 'e' won't work.

I have just made some tests
• Text from THIS page : Doesn't Work
• Text from google search engine : OK
• Text from Text Edit : Doesn't Work
• Text from Text Edit after converting the document to Text format : OK

Salut Benoit,

I'm suspecting that there is another element involved in this. There is only a single executable for Photoshop, so different linguistic versions generally share all the same errors or limitations. As a Creative Cloud user, you can download and install the English version side-by-side with the French one, if you want to tryout a different language-version of the app. That said, during development, I regularly test the French and German versions and have never seen an analogous problem.

That said, I'm sure there's a root cause, possible an element that isn't commonly employed in English, but which is in a French context, given that other French-speaking users have the problem. In my own (quick) test, I was able to copy/paste text from both this webpage and Text Edit without a problem.

You are copying Latin-based text (French, German, Turkish, Hungarian, etc), right? I ask because Arabic, Hebrew, and Indic writing requires a different text composer (changed via a setting under Preferences > Type). It shouldn't throw an error, but it's all I can think of.

If you're interested, I could set up a web-hosted screenshare to try and troubleshoot the problem with you. Unfortunately, I'm tied up most of the rest of the day, but can be free tomorrow. I'm in California, so three hours behind Montreal and nine hours behind France. Just ping me here and I'll send an email with all the details.

Thanks,
David

Here is the link of the topic on the French forum referring to this problem :

Allo David,

I am installing the English version as we speak to try (I will let you know).

Again, it works fine on my laptop but not on my iMac both with the exact same soft versions/configuration.

I am trying to copy only text in French or English.

And yes, we can set up a screenshare tomorrow if it can help.

Thanks

Okay, ça m'inquiète...!

This is starting to really sound like a problem with the machine or OS or installation rather than with Photoshop.  The problem is language-independent and only reported in French...and when running Mac OS 10.10...selon la commentaire dans le forum français.  Maybe there's a bug only with the French version of Yosemite...?  No one has complained about this in English...and every OTHER issue with Yosemite has come up.  Let me dig into this a little.

I will follow up with an email so we can set up a meeting tomorrow.

Merci et bonne soirée,
David
