Why can't I copy just a portion of a layer mask? When going in to edit a layer mask, I can't mark an area with a bounding box and copy it, then paste it into another layer mask. It makes no sense why I can't do this. I was hoping CS6 would fix this problem, but guess not????

One can copy parts of a Layer Mask and paste them into other Layer Masks.
Either I’m misunderstanding you or you are mistaken.

By »bounding box« do you mean a Selection created with the Rectangular Marquee Tool?

Weird, as I tried doing this the other night with the Rectangular Marquee then Copy and when I went to past it wouldn't do anything. If I did a select all on the mask, it worked. But only a portion of the mask, it didn't. I'll have to try again tonight..

Thanks
