Camera Raw/DNG/Lightroom: Background color used to fill gaps in distorted images

Panel: Lens > Transformation
Many transformations result in image geometry that doesn't fully cover the image rectangle. E.g scaling down.
I would like to have control over the background used to fill in the gaps.
It is currently dark gray
I would LOVE transparent or alpha channel masking. Black or white would also be popular color choices for many people.

If you have Photoshop CS5, you could use Content Aware fill to fill the areas similar to what Dave did with this script for Panorama's with a similar issue:
