control point missing for brush

Lightroom 6.1.1 desktop version - the installation suddenly stopped showing the 'control point' (the small circular white marker on the photo) for the brush (still shows control point for other tools such as gradiant filters). I reinstalled LR6 then redid the update to 6.1.1. but the fault persists. it means I can't duplicate or delete using the control point and can't go back and update the adjustment. many thanks for looking into this.
i'm using windows 8.1 pro.

With the Adjustment Brush tool selected, hit the [ H } key. (Hide/Unhide)
or
Alternately, with the tool bar active ( [ T ] to toggle it on on and off) check your "Show Edit Pins" setting.

hi rikk - you're a star ! this glitch happened when lightroom was having a bit of a 'fit' so didn't think for a minute it was something that could be so easily corrected. MANY thanks - did as you advised and all sorted now :)
thanks again
