Comparing files in Photoshop

I'd like to compare two image files. It is the same picture, and I'd like to see the difference between those two. An idé is that Photoshop makes a new image with a layer on top with the pixels that differs. In the old days, in Sitex systems, they had this functionality, really easy to see differences.

Just put them on layers, and set the blend mode of the top layer to difference.

That does not work properly when the differences are just small percentages of a color. I'd more like a function that shows what pixels has been changed, really clear.

Add a levels adjustment layer above the difference.

People have been doing this in Photoshop for many years.
