Photoshop: Colors dull and shadows up on exported files

Recently I have observed that after I finish with the editing and export the file from photoshop, the colors in the exported file are much dull and the shadows go up on their own. This started happening on its own.

This happens regardless of how I export the image, same happens if I save as jpeg, export as jpeg or use the save for web option.

I am a beginner, can anyone tell me a fix?

What Color Space are the images in?

Do you embedd the ICC Profile when saving?

Have you tried converting them (if they are not already) to sRGB?

More specifically, if you go to Image->Convert to Profile...

what does it say in the "Source" box of that dialog that pops up?

If the profile in that dialog is anything other than a version of 'sRGB', that's your problem.

Most of the export options in photoshop automatically convert the image to the sRGB colorspace because web browsers are inconsistent with color management in any other color space.
