I have lightroom 3.6 and photoshop CS5. When I adjust a photo in Lightroom and then export it to Photoshop the colors (on the same computer) are very different. Why?

A common cause is color management policy misconfiguration in Photoshop. Must be set to preserved embedded profiles.

Lightroom's Develop module uses the ProPhotoRGB RGB working space profile. As Dorin posted, the default RGB working space profile in Photoshop is sRGB, which gives you far fewer colors. Change the sRGB profile to ProPhotoRGB in Photoshop's color settings, then change your External Editing profile (in Lightroom's preferences) to ProPhoto if you use Edit In Photoshop. If you export your images, choose that profile when you export. That way, everything will be in sync.
Note that this might not work as well if you're going to the web (sRGB is probably a better bet), but it should work best for high-end / high-end desktop printing.
