Photoshop CC 2019: Color dodge damage

When I create a new layer and fill it with black, then I switch the blend mode to color dodge, then the canvas freezes and I can only see the changing of the image inside the navigator. After a while, a dialogue pops up and said something in photoshop's files was not responding (the canvas is still frozen).

I rebooted my computer, and reopened the photoshop, I found it lost its home screen and can only display black and white (not grayscale, some weird gray color).

However, after I uninstall and reinstall the photoshop without keeping the reference files, the problem disappeared.

But when I try the steps again, the canvas stops responding again, and I'm afraid my photoshop will be damaged once again if I continue to make black color dodge.
