Closing Photoshop removes all files & folders in "My Documents"

If I open Photoshop and close it, regardless of what I do after it opens, all of the files and folders in "My Documents" folder are removed. They aren't in the Recycle Bin and they are not retrievable in any way...they are just gone. It happens EVERY time and only happens within seconds after Photoshop closes.

f I don't open Photoshop those files never go away, they exist as you would expect. It is the specific closing of Photoshop CC that triggers their removal.

Another user complained of the same thing back in November and is using Windows 8.1 as I am. His original thread is here.
