Clone tool not working in 64 bit versions

Photoshop cs5 (64bit) and now cs6 (64 bit) cloning tool does not work. However, it will work in both 32 bit versions. So, if I need to clone, I have to close cs6 64 bit and open cs6 32 bit to clone. This is not right. This was one of my main reasons for purchasing cs6 and I am still having the same problem. What's up with this? It is quite frustrating.

First, let me tell you that I have owned PS 4, 5.5, 7, CS2, CS5 and now CS6 and in CS5 and CS6 (both 64bit versions). When I try to use the cloning tool it tells me to alt-click, but when I do, I receive the message on the attached image below.

It is a real pain to have to save the image and then close PS 64bit, then open the 32 bit version and reopen the image to use the clone tool.

Am I the only one experiencing this problem?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Until you find what is eating the events in 64 bit, I won't know.

But this is not a widespread problem, and in the past it was always traced to another application or utility.

Ok, do you have any suggestions for me? I am running Win7 Pro.

Disable all third party plugins in Photoshop CS6.
Try again.

Close down all the other applications you are running at the same time as Photoshop.
Try again.

Close down all the utility programs you are running at the same time as Photoshop.
Try again.

If one of those steps makes the problem go away, then you know it was most likely caused by those plugins, applications or utilities. Then we need to narrow down which specific one caused it.

I will see what I can find, but when I installed CS6 the very first thing I did was try the clone tool before I added any plug-ins.

Any more suggestions????
I'm beginning to regret the upgrade.
