PS  CC 2017.        I first pressed the alt key, then the left mouse button to select the area to be cloned. Released the alt key and mouse button. Next moved  to the area to be cloned, pressed the shift key then the left mouse key.  Nothing happens?  Anyone else with this problem?

Could it be that you are on another layer you want to clone to than you are cloning from?

In this case make sure that your sample settings are correct.

Thanks for the reply.  No, I have made attempts with all layer possibilities.

Hmmm... That's the only way (so far) I can reproduce your problem.

Maybe you want to give "Reset Tool" a try.

Are you using a Wacom tablet?

I have Reset tool.  I do have a wacom tablet.  Have not attempted to use clone tool with tablet.  Will do this this morning.  I have read that wacom tablet is having problems with PS CC.  Thanks for the help.

Are you on Windows or Mac?  I've tried both and am not seeing a problem.  Are you getting nothing at all?  What does your cursor look like?  Can you see a bit of the sampled location there?

Thanks,
David

David, thanks for the reply.  I am on a PC.  Tool looks good as it shows a circle.    When I alt click a spot, then move to desired location hold Shift key and left click mouse nothing happens.  After this attempt if move mouse to a new location,  and left click, the whole area between the two clicks move leaving a space between original selection and last click.  All other brushes seem to work perfectly.  Clone tool works as a single click.  Sorry, but hard to explain.

Howdy Larry,

When the Clone tool is active and has the sample point set, when you move to another it should give you a visual hint/preview of what would be cloned in that spot if you click.  Are you not seeing that?

What kind of mouse are you using?  Do you have any other pointing device or pointer software installed?

Any chance you'd be able to do a video of what you're seeing and/or we could do a web-hosted screenshare so I could help you troubleshoot?

Thanks,
David
