Photoshop CC 2019 20.0.1

Have an issue with the Lighting Effects Filter applied to a Layer filled with 50% grey.

Filter runs OK and shows the rendered result when the zoom level is below 50%.

When I zoom in to 100% the Layer appears solid black. The Histogram still shows data however.

If I close and re-open file, the Layer shows black at any zoom level and the Histogram is empty, except for pure black.

Huh ?

Windows 10 v1803,

Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070

I'm on a Mac, High Sierra, and an Nvidia card, but it's working okay for me. Mind, Lighting Effects on my machine is always very unstable—it crashed twice when I tried to commit my test file before taking the 3rd time. And that sort of thing happening — plenty going wonky — with the Lighting Effects filter has been common on my computers since they decided to make it part of the 3D feature. I definitely had problems like yours before the last update. But it looks like you're on the latest update.

I did disable Legacy Compositing in the Performance Preferences to see if that would make it happen. I normally run with Legacy Compositing still enabled. I'm not sure if all the bugs are worked out yet. You might try enabling Legacy Compositing, if it isn't, and see if that doesn't help. If it does, that could be an outstanding bug on that feature with Windows.
