Lightroom: Creative Cloud app doesn't remember Lightroom is installed

Mt CC application doesn't recognise that I have Lightroom installed on my system. It was previously installed from the CC app but now it's not listed as an installed app. There is an update available (to v5.7) but I cannot install it.

How do I make CC recognise that Lightroom has been installed from it.

If you click [Update] for Lightroom in the Creative Cloud app, do you get an error?

In the CC app Lightroom is is now in the list of apps to install for a trial rather than in the list of those already installed so the option for it is to 'install trial'. It seems that every time there is an update available for LR it does the same thing - CC forgets its already installed...up to the new version being available this week CC knew LR was installed and it was listed along with other apps I've installed from CC...

Lightroom 5 uses a different install technology. Each update replaces the entire product, so it will say Install whether it's an update or a new install.

Go ahead and click [Install] to update to 5.7.

We hope to make this experience better with the next version of the product.

I installed LR 5.7 with the CC App.
Today I read that 5.7.1 is available, and I went to the App. It says that Photoshop CC is installed, and Lightroom does not show as installed, so there was no update reminder. It does allow me to install it, but it shows as not installed when it was indeed installed, and by the App itself.
Perhaps because I owned a stand-alone version of Lightroom 5 it's getting confused, but it's disconcerting that Adobe can't get this right.

My point is that, whether it replaces or updates it is irrelevant to me as a consumer. The fact is I did not receive a reminder or notification to install the update or reinstall the product.

Lightroom also uses it own update reminder notification (outside the CC app). It only checks when the application is launched. We hope to make this experience better with the next version of the product.

I have exactly the same issue.

I installed LR and Photoshop from the CC app, but now the CC app doesn't show LR in the list of 'installed' apps, just in the list of apps 'available' to install. I have installed LR again from the CC app but the same thing happened.

I understand what Jeffery was saying about LR checking for updates when it is launched, and thats fine, but like Qasim I'd like to know how I get CC to recognise the installed LR app.

If the Creative Cloud app says install, it means that there is an update for Lightroom. Lightroom 5.7.1 was released late last week.

Ah I see, so rather than saying "update" like Photoshop does, it says "install". Thanks Jeffrey.

Correct. We hope to make this experience better with the next version of the product. We're just in a weird state because Lightroom uses a different install tech at this time,

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom installation disappears from creative cloud client.

Every few weeks, my creative cloud software forgets about my Lightroom installation. To be more precise, there's a "Install" button next to Lightroom even though Lightroom has been installed on my harddrive through the creative cloud software. I can start up Lightroom without issues from the start menu.

I wouldn't care, normally, but since creative cloud isn't aware of the Lightroom installation, it doesn't let me update.

I am not sure what causes the issue, though I have seen it happening after a Lightroom and/or Creative Cloud update. The recent update worked out fine, though.

The issue can be resolved by re-installing Lightroom, but that is not something I want to do on a regular basis. Logging on/off and deleting the CC database file doesn't help. Neither does re-installing the CC software itself.

Mine is the same - very annoying that it is not recognized as an installed app and hope this is addressed soon!

Is CC forgetting about LR, or is there just a new version of LR to install?

What version of LR is listed in Help / About Adobe Photoshop Lightroom...?

Is LR listed down below with an Install button next to I?

I'm not at my computer but can check later. I know it's whatever the latest version is. It is listed below with an Install button. I have tried doing the install (even though it's alreadyinstalled) and it still does not appear as an installed app like my others. I called tech support about it a while back and can't recall exactly what happened but it did not solve the problem

Sorry took a while - I'm using version 5.7 and when I go to "check for updates" it shows I am using the latest version

Very Poor update links and follow up.

I have 5.7.1 already installed, but the Update pop up still shows, each time i launch LR.
