Lightroom Classic: Cautionary Tale of the Refine Photos command

I use the Refine Photos command quite a lot but I just learned a big lesson! Here's what happened; I was culling a new import of images with the Pick flags. I hit the Refine Photos command but program's focus has shifted to the "All Photographs"! Not noticing this, I pressed Command Delete and every image I had that was not "picked" to begin with was now marked as a Reject and ended up in the Trash Can. The application froze half way thru the process but over 40,000 images were in the trash!

I had been working in the "Previous Import" view but must have accidentally clicked the All Photographs. Or perhaps there is a short key that does that? I can't find it if there is.

Anyway, my advice is to not edit/cull in the Previous Import view but rather from the folder or collection!  And to slow down on commands that are hard to fix and double check your intensions.

Luckily, my clone drive was updated just a few hours before all of this, so fixing the whole mess was just an easy disk copy.
