Lightroom: Why am I seeing the "Select Catalog" dialog at start up?

I have had Lightroom installed since Oct '10 & it has worked wonderfully ~
absolutely love it ~
used it 2 weeks ago & worked wonderful ~
tried to use last night & it opens to the screen saying ~
Select Catalog ( I have never saw this before )
bottom left says choose catalog or create new catalog ~
I can not get into my lightroom ~ PLEASE HELP ME ~
What have I done & how do I fix this ?

Can you post a screen shot of the dialog, so we can see what catalogs are presented there?

I have tried to make a screen shot & can't figure out how ~ if you explain I will ~ Sorry
It offers NO catalogs ~ just a blank screen

See here for instructions on how to take a screen shot. Then add the screenshot to the post using the "Add Image" button at the bottom right of this text box.

replace the word 'at' with the @ symbol and remove the spaces.

I just wanted to comment ~ Beat sat up with me till wee hours of the morning for him & fixed my Lightroom for me ...

Unfortunately, there was not much more I could do than to set up a new catalog for Angie, as the catalog she was working with recently (including eventual backups) had disappeard (deleted?) from her system. All I was able to find on her system were two very old catalogs.

But Angie didn't worry too much about the fact, so she's up and running again for new re-imports.

I am having the same problem, so I uninstalled the program and then reinstalled same error, not too worried about the pictures but I do want to use lightroom -- can you email me on how to fix it mmmorro@aim.com thank you
