Cant't paste text from text editor into photoshop
I also tried to paste into Typebox with no results.
I only can copy and paste within PS itself!

Is this a bug or is there a solution?

Working for me under Windows 10/64 and Photoshop CC, so open a new document white/black or transparent, copy your text Ctrl-C and Paste Ctrl-V if your document is white when you go in Text remember of change a color, then you with Ctrl can resize your text, if you like apply the text to your image after load the image make a new transparent layer and past the text with the color you like, hoping is clear and working for you.

Crokely, Are you on Mac or Windows? Sounds like your pasting into a text layer? Are you also not able to paste into say a dialog edit field? (e.g. document title in the New Document dialog)

Howdy Crokely,

Could you give us more details about what's not working for you?  We'd like some details so we can help you troubleshoot this.  The truth is, once there's a valid run of text in the clipboard, you can paste it in pretty much any text layer or even entry field you want, although sometimes the later are constrained to numeric values.

What are situations where this might not work?  Well, where the "text" is really a graphic.  Or where there's complex script involved (well, we'll try to get it right and you'd likely get some result, but I doubt you'd have this kind of writing in a text editor).  Or where there's multiple lines of text on the clipboard, but only a single field (though, again, in this case, you'll get something -- the first line of text).

So, really, some details here would be VERY helpful.

Thanks,
David

From illustrator it works, but then it messes with the font and size

Ok. Sounds like something different between the two machines. Are you running any system extensions on the affected system? They usually show up here in System Preferences:

<a href="https://d37wxxhohlp07s.cloudfront.net/s3_images/804557/extensions.jpg?1350313749"><img src="https://d37wxxhohlp07s.cloudfront.net/s3_images/804557/extensions_inline.jpg?1350313749" alt="" /></a>

Try booting in safemode to disable system utilities to see if the problem goes away: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/2012/07/photoshop-basic-troubleshooting-steps-to-fix-most-issues.html#SafeMode

Also, where, PRECISELY, are you trying to paste?  What is the state of the app?  Detailed steps you REALLY help, like:

1) launch Photoshop
2) create a new image
3) go to another app and select some text
4) come back to Photoshop
5) ...and...?

The app is for instance Mail.
5) I select typetool. Even made a text box.  nothing happened
This is the message in the pop up window:
"Could not complete the Paste Text command because the clipboard data is empty or invalid."

With the previous version of PS I had no problem what so ever!

Hi Crokely,

I've tried what you've described many times, but I cannot reproduce any problem.  Would you be available a for a web-hosted screenshare?  That way I can see what's going on with your system live and help you troubleshoot it.  All you need is an internet connection and a telephone line.  The call and the connection are free.  Just ping me back and I'll send you all the details.

Thanks,
David

Hi Arthur,

I think you're talking about a different issue.  Photoshop doesn't have a Quick more and Expert Mode.  Are you perhaps using Photoshop Elements?

Thanks,
David

Hi Arthur,

You should log a separate question for your issue with Photoshop Elements.  The two work differently.

Thanks,
David

Hi Jan,

I'd like to help you with the problem that you're having, but I cannot reproduce it myself.  What happens when you try to copy and paste text from Photoshop to another application?  What about when you copy it from another app to PS?  What version of PS are you running (look under Help > System Info)?

Thanks,
David

Are you running any utilities like Notability? A fair amount of clipboard issues are caused by 3rd party applications/utilities.

Same issue here. Out of nowhere, copy text from keynote (or any other app) and paste as object in PS and IL stopped working. Weird thing is, I had been using the function problem free all day and it just stopped. Didn't close any documents in either PS or Keynote. It just stopped. It's like PS doesn't see the clipboard if there's live text in it (all edit functions are greyed out). I've had no problems before today. The only 3rd party utilities I run are Drive Genius and CCC. Tried safe mode, PRAM zap, re-assigning scratch disks, re-installing PS(upgrading to latest build of PS), pasting text into a new PS document from textedit, pasting from keynote to textedit to PS, changing fonts...all the usual suspects. The only thing that changed today is our old wireless router was replaced with a new one.

Hi Konrad,

I'm scratching my head.  We haven't been able to repro this problem in-house.  With the steps you listed, I assuming that you rebooted the OS, right?  I'm not familiar with either Drive Genius or CCC.  Based on the description, so long as Drive Genius doesn't co-opt the clipboard, it shouldn't be an issue.  You might want to check about Carbon Copy Cloner and the clipboard.

Naturally, I can't repro the problem myself.  Would you be interested in a web-host screenshare to help better understand the problem?

Thanks,
David

No, NDA's preclude me from screen sharing outside the project. Thanks for the offer though. Did a little more testing this morning; Interestingly, it's just text. copying objects from outside PS works fine. Font doesn't seem to matter nor does conversion to plain text. Tried about a dozen different fonts. As much as I hate trashing prefs, that's my 'nuclear option'...

There are a couple things you can try to see if they make trashing prefs less onerous. You can copy the set of prefs and if  trashing them cures nothing, go ahead and put them back. Better if you save fresh preferences as your backup, but if you didn't. . . Or after setting them all back to their defaults, you can record an action while you change them.  Later, just play the action.

I've done both before to speed things up, although lately I normally just trash happily away, knowing it will take a few minutes to get them set back again. My reason for "wasting" time is there are so many preferences, with new ones coming along constantly, this helps me remember there IS a preference for this or that, and to spot new ones that very often arrive with little or no fanfare.
