The 70D does not have Tether Support available

It will either be 5.2 final or more likely 5.3 or later before that is available

Even though LR 5.2 should support RAWs from the 70D, I'd guess it'll be 6 to 9 months after that when the 70D would get tethering support.

The reason I say this is because Adobe needs to wait for Canon to release tethering support in the SDK for the 70D, and then their developers will have a chance to work on tethering support.

Using the Canon SL1 as an example:
Adobe supported SL1 RAWs in April 2013.
Canon released an SDK that supports SL1 tethering July 2013.
Adobe may support tethering for the SL1 in LR 5.2 at the earliest, which is a Sept/Oct timeframe, 5-6 months later, but could be delayed further if other cameras have higher priority.

So since 70D RAWs are likely going to be supported in LR 5.2 in Sept/Oct 2013 adding 5-6 months to that would be Feb/Mar 2014.

Anything might happen, but tethering for your new 70D is likely going to be next year at the earliest.

Keep watching the Canon SDK pages to see when they support the 70D:

Canon 70D Failing Tethered Capture.

I have recently purchased a Canon 70D and LightroomCC does recognize the camera and import images but tethered capture will not work. After reviewing the updates I have version 5.3 and the camera shows as supported in version 5.2. Is there something I am doing incorrectly or is there a plug-in that will help with this issue?

There is no plug-in,we are told that we have to wait for canon to release tethering support, really annoying.

Honestly this works great if you follow it to the letter.

Make sure you have the most current version of the EOS Utility installed for the 70D. This can be found on the Canon website under downloads. It won't work if you have the EOS utility installed for cameras before the 70D. It will contain older .dll files that won't work!!!!!
Close Lightroom
Follow the instructions to the letter, take your time,it worked for me.

Step 1.
Open Windows Explorer and browse to the folder
\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2\tether_canon.lrplugin

Step 2.
Rename the following files:
EDSDK.dll to EDSDK.dllOLD
EdsImage.dll to EdsImage.dllOLD

Renaming this files allows you to go back if necessary. You may get prompted with a message that you need permission to rename the files. Just agree to rename the files.

Step 3.
Browse to folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Canon\EOS Utility
Select and copy the files EDSDK.dll and EdsImage.dll
Paste the files to the folder:
\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.2\tether_canon.lrplugin

You may be prompted for permission to copy the files to folder. Agree and continue.

Start LR and happy tethering!!!

Cheers!
