I've got Adobe Photoshop 5.0 LE together with my Panasonic FZ38 camara.
I'm very much looking forward to use this program - but when I try to install it I get a message box saying:
'Versioner af denne fil er ikke kompatibel med denne version af Windows, du kører. Kontroller computerens systemopsætninger for at se, om du skal bruge en x86- (32-bit) eller x64- (64-bit) version af programmet, og kontakt derefter softwareudgiveren.'
Short in english: 'this is a 32-bit version and you might run 64-bit, please contact the sw compagny'
Therefore I contact you.
I run Windows 7 64-bit on my pc.
I phoned Panasonic in Denmark and told them that the all sw they'd encloced with the camera can't be installed at a Windows 7 64-bit pc - they didn't bother.
So please help - how can I make Photoshop run at my pc?
regards, Anja

Thanks for your quick reply!

First, The problem is solved now, but need to say - and ask some more:

Yes I'm sure. At the cd is printed: Adobe () Photoshop 5.0 Limited Edition.
Also there is printet a green picture with a flying bird.
Ofcause I should have posted my question lon ago - I brought the camera a year ago and some months later the pc. Also there was SilkyPix developer and Media Impression with the camera witch also can't be installed. It really turns me off that Panasonic don't bother.

What is dng converter?
I will like to be able to manage/edit my raw files and videoes.

Told my husband about your answer - he mentioned: 'Do yu know we got some sw with the Canon scanner?
With this we got Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 for Macintosh + 5.0 for windows - and the APE I could install with no problems.

Looking forward to try editing photos.

I just tried to make a small slide show - am I right that APE cant handle/make slideshows in HD format?

As far that I can see APE don't handle video clips - is hat correct?

Sure you think I'm an ignorent, I/we are in our 60th and 70th You must therefore bear with my/our lack of knowledge.

Hi again,
PSE5 installed and seem to work ok. I downloaded and ran your suggested update.
Messagebox told: ... my mashine is already updated to version 5.0.2.

Just went to the page with the free dng converter 5.2 update - don't seem to handle Panasonic DMC-FZ38 - at least I can't find it in the list of cameras mentioned.

I use AVCHD Lite for videos - think it might be the same as MTS / M2S.
Just brought PowerDirector 9 witch handle this format - again because the sw shiped with the camera can't be installed.

I use JPEG for pictures because ACDSee Pro 3 don't seem to handle raw files.
ACD is a very nice Photo organizer with several editing tools - but not enough.
I need a better photo editor for both normal editing and for creating speial effects to use together with the video in PD9.
PSE has been positively mentioned in the photo magazine and the magazine has created a lot of tuturials (in danish),

But also I'll like to try make and edit raw files because the camera can make photos in this format and a lot of features are mentioned in the photo magazine.

The copy program files idea above feels like a hack, what about all the registry settings etc?

I found this blog, it claims to "install" Photoshop 5.0 using Photoshop normal setup process on all windows versions that I care about, and for 64bit also - has anyone tried it?

You can try this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/15078/windows-make-older-programs-compatible or update to a newer version of Elements that was designed to run on modern hardware and OSes.
