Lightroom 4: Can't find photos, and look like they are on a phantom drive!

I can't find photos. They show as listed on a drive that doesn't exist. This is for a whole list of folders. I have some deadlines to meet so a speedy answer would be nice. It shows those folders with ? marks!

Which application are you using, and which version?

Which OS version are you using?

Sorry, the solution was too simple. First of all, I had changed my import method and didn't realize that the catalog was looking at the backup drive for the photo and not at the original. Then during this time for some reason the cable loosened and the external drive my backup drive was on so that is what it was missing. I had already gone and deleted the folder from the catalog. I didn't discover the problem until I tried to re import the photos and realized the drive was unconnected. :-)
So simple but so complex. I suspect there is now no way that the info stayed with the backup copy of the photo?
