Cannot resize any layer. I've tried everything. After installing the latest version from CC it didn't work but then I shut down PHotoshop and it worked for one drag and then completely stopped again. I installed CC because CS5 stopped working and Adobe update failed every time. My machine works perfectly for EVERYTHNIG but Adobe products. How can this be fixed??

Please elaborate; what exactly are you doing, what’s your OS, hardware, ...?

Windows 7 Pro, 8 GIGs Ram, 2.6 GHz AMD 64 x2 dual core processor 5000+, NVIDIA GeForce 8400GS

Actually, it's very basic and I've done it a million times in the past but recently it never works.

I added a new layer, then paste an image in. Then I select the Move tool. When I go to grab the corner of the layer it automatically deselects the move tool and acts like I have resized or moved the layer. Every time.

What are the Move Tool’s settings (in the Options Bar)?

»it automatically deselects the move tool«
What exactly happens?
Do the Transformation Controls vanish?
Why the new Layer anyway?
Could you post a screenshot?

What have you done for general trouble-shooting so far?

Of course, I've tried everything. I click (and hold) anywhere on the image and the Move tool is is no longer selected and it's waiting for me to either Apply changes or discard them. It's instantaneous. It doesn't matter if it's a new layer or not. A screenshot can't capture it but let me try.

Forget the resizing part, I can't even do a simple move of a layer unless i use my arrow keys on my keyboard.

But isn’t this why you have »Show Transform Controls« checked?

Without that checked you can't even attempt to resize the layer. Yes, so I can resize the layer.

Thanks but I get the same result. One thing I just checked was there's a new driver for the NVIDIA. I downloaded that and tried installing but of course it didn't finish. Another error.

That the Move Tool is not indicated as selected in the Toolbox and the Options Bar shows the Transformation settings once a Transformation is invoked is normal, but if I understand correctly and you can’t move the object on the canvas then I can only recommend to run the usual trouble-shooting steps (restoring preferences, updating Photoshop, OS, drivers, ...).

It's almost like the layer is protected but it's not. This is crazy.

The sad thing is I was able to get my work done in 2 minutes using Paint.NET which is free. I hope Adobe fixes this. I'm not the only person with this problem.

I'm experiencing the exact same issue Craig! It is very frustrating! I have a second machine that has an older version of Photoshop on it, and like you, I was able to take care of what I needed in a matter of minutes. For the life of me I can't get simple edits to work under the latest version. I'm working on a Windows 10 Professional machine with 6 GB of RAM, AMD 64 x 3, NVIDA processor.

Where you ever able to find a resolution?

For anyone else that is experiencing this same issues it appears to have something to do with Graphics Processor Settings. I've disabled the processor and restarted PS and it seems to be working closer to what is expected. There are some side effects due to the loss in performance, but I'm going to continue to toy with these settings and check for an updated driver to attempt to resolve.

I figured out my issue and sorry, I thought I already shared it.. I was using keyboard/mouse sharing software. Synergy and then I tried ShareMouse.  Both wouldn't allow me to drag. As soon as I turned it off I could drag.

I switched to Mouse without Borders by Microsoft (free) for sharing multiple computers/screens with one mouse/keyboard and I'm all set now. No issues with dragging.
