Can't click to a spot on sliders in Develop Modules

In the last couple versions of Lightroom (at least), whenever I click in a spot along any of the adjustment sliders in the Develop module (exposure, white balance, highlights, etc., etc.), to make it jump to a spot, it does not "register" the adjustment. Instead, it stays at the last level. To change the setting, I need to actually grab the small slider itself from wherever it is and move it to where I want it. This is what I always do for fine tuning, but it's extremely annoying, as I always just click in a rough area to get close first or to test if I like the effect that setting has... Can you PLEASE fix this? Thanks :-)

Also, I'll add a feature request... Some kind of skin tone protection for the Blacks slider would be awesome. Bringing blacks down is a great way to cut through some haze or washed out effects from backlighting...but it always makes skin super gross and yellow (which is normal and totally expected). But it would be awesome if there was a way to protect those skin tones so I can do less post when I don't need to be quite so precise...
