Lightroom: Can't change photos in unpublished book layout - wrong photos show forever

Lightroom 4 Book is overriding photos inserted in a layout such that the correct photos are NEVER saved again, cannot be exported to Blurb. Tried duplicating book, unsuccessful.
Something about changing the book originally jumbled a few photos so that in a wedding album I now have cutting the cake photos in the middle of getting ready photos. A total mystery.
If I try swapping a photo it shows it on the layout, but if I try uploading to Blurb, the incorrect photos show. If I navigate away from book and come back, the book reverts back to old, incorrect photos. Tried restarting. Tried quitting and reloading. Nothing helps. I'm on a Mac 10.5 with LR4.

I think that duplicating a layout is what ties the layout to the photo - this has happened on a second book. So copy/paste layout seems to be buggy.

Can you post a detailed step-by-step instruction on how to reproduce the problem? I'm having trouble reproducing it from your description.

I have seen a very similar error affecting background images (bug 3120644).

Caroline, can you test with the 4.1 release candidate? It may not rescue your existing book but the problem may have been resolved.

Hi John
Sorry for the late reply - I've been trying to get that album redone with booksmart and that gobbled up all my time. Will try with 4.1 (crossing fingers)
