Lightroom Desktop: Can't import repeat film scans to Lightroom as thinks they're duplicates

I have some film negative scans in my library, of which it turns out the lab made a mistake when scanning. The lab have kindly redone the scans for me and I'm trying to import these new scans to compare to the older versions. Despite changing the file name Lightroom CC won't let me import as it thinks they're duplicates. How do I get these repeat scans into my Lightroom CC library so I can compare ?

Mate that sounds like a super annoying issue, I'm fairly certain there used to be an "ignore duplicates" or similar tick option in the the import panel, but couldn't find any now at a glance.

That "ignore duplicates" is part of CC Classic; this seem to be an annoying bug in CC. I've tried renaming the pics, but that did not work either.

There is no import panel in Lightroom CC. I am surprised that Lightroom would see these scans as duplicates, because they must have a different file creation date/time. Do you get an error saying they are duplicates or is that your own conclusion?

Lightroom CC doesn't use Date/Time/Size criteria like Lightroom Classic does. It relies on an internal hash to identify duplicates.

Michael, do you have two separate files which Lightroom Desktop 3.1 identifies as duplicates?  We would be interested in acquiring copies of the files and information about how they were created.

Hi Rikk, thanks for the response. I am using Lightroom CC, and only a single file.

Would you be willing to share the file?

Absolutely. Will do when I get back to my personal PC, happy to create a zip file and share. Any suggestion on how to share?
