Lightroom: Can't import photos from an iPhone 7 on my iMac

Lightroom Import will only show previews for a few of the files in the  Camera Roll on my phone, then when I try to Import, it quits part way through,.  When I cancel the Import, the Import button is then greyed out, and when I try to quit Lightroom to start over, I have to Force Quit.  This problem has spanned a few Lightroom and iOS updates.  I've switched cables and tried anything else I can find in other posts.  I hope someone can help.

I use Mac, and I always import iPhone photos with "Image Capture" to a folder and then import from there to Lightroom. Never had a problem.

I've imported directly thru Lightroom for years, and it saves a lot of steps.  It's only recently that this problem turned up.

I am having the same problem. I have never had a problem before. It shows the image 'file' but not what the photo is. Then it says that the images could not be read. I updated my iMac OS to high sierra a while ago, but was having problems with only some of the images being imported before that.  ( I am still using Lightroom 5)

Hi Don,

Do you have a crash log that you can share?

Thanks,

I can't copy and paste from the Problem Report, since it's a billion pages long.   Is there a file location?

Use Apple's Image Capture app to move designated or all photos from iPhone or iPad to a file you use for that on your hard drive and then load into LR. Easy peasy.

I don't use LR to import from my iPhone, but I do use  Bridge with PhotoDownloader and it's just curious that I have the same problem if my DD sends me video from her iPhone 7. So long as I avoid selecting any videos, I'm okay. I have to use Image Capture to download video, although Bridge/PD works just fine with iPhone 6 and below. Is it at all possible that's a problem with LR as well?
