Can't import GPS-Data into LR Classic CC

I have a serious problem with my GPS-Data. when I import pics generated in My Lumix G9 with Geo-tagging, Lightroom simply ignores the Geo-data in its Metadata infos even though GPS is definitely in my Metadata presets and also inside my RAW-files. LR will write those GPS-Data when I use the "Metadata" command inside the menue and click on "read from file" - at the same time warning that "this is not reversible". with this command, I will get my GPS-data into the Metadata, and they will be shown inside the "Maps"-module, but my personal metadata presets which I need for uploading to my agency, will disappear. this wasn't a problem with earlier versions of LR, by the way, and when I export the pics to PS CC the GPS data can definitely be found in "file-information" and GPS-section. It really looks like a LR-Bug. can you help? I really need this problem to solve quickly, because I do a lot of travel-photography
