Lightroom/Photoshop: Can't get photos from Lightroom 5 to Photoshop CS6

Today I find that I can't send my edited pictures from Lightroom 5 to Photoshop CS6 for final editing. I have had no previous problem doing this for a long time. When I try to do so by the drop down or by the ctrl e shortcut I get the same result. Eventually, I get an error message in Lightroom "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched." This is what happens whether Photoshop is open or closed, and if closed, it opens. If I open the photo directly from the file into Photoshop bypassing Lightroom, and then close it, the edited photo from Lightroom will open in Photoshop. This is bazaar.
Any ideas how to fix this??

What OS/version are you on? Sounds like Windows.

Have you tried quitting both Lightroom and Photoshop and restoring Photoshop's preferences: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

I was hoping to use the first option to reset preferences, but when I couldn't do that, I used the second option (CTRL,ALT,Shift} and when Photoshop opened, I got an error message "Could not complete the command because Photoshop was unable to find the Javascript plug-in."
I have the CS6 suite and don't know how I would reinstall just Photoshop if that is my only option. I hope there is an easier way to fix this.
Window 7 Ultimate.

If you have your disk, yes, you can pop it in and only select Photoshop to reinstall it.

One other question. It sounds like this is new problem. Any ideas what changed? Did you run any system cleaners or anti-virus? It sounds like the a required resource (javescript plug-in) was modified or removed.

I had to run chkdsk due to an error with AOL. I had no problem with Adobe before this. That may be where the problem came from.
Would I need to uninstall Photoshop before I try to do a reinstall?

Yup. I imagine that could be the culprit.

Uninstall wouldn't hurt. Run it from the Remove/Add programs control panel.

I don't see any way to install JUST Photoshop from the Premier Pro disk. Also, won't I have to reinstall all of my plug-ins? (onone etc)

The uninstaller won't touch 3rd party plug-ins. "Premiere Pro" disk? Are you using your Creative Suite disk?

I misspoke. Yes it's the Creative Suite Production Premium disk. Guess I will try doing an uninstall and reinstall just Photoshop tomorrow. Thanks again.

Hello again Jeffrey,
Yesterday I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop. So far as I can tell, there has been no change in that Photoshop opens from Lightroom but the photo doesn't appear. I then get an error message "The file could not be edited because Photoshop could not be launched" (even though it is open).
Plus I have a new problem. I can't update Photoshop as every time I try I get the message "The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily or the internet or firewall settings might be incorrect" I have never seen this message before and I got this version of Photoshop in June of 2012 so it is definately in need of an update. I tried turning off my antivirus and firewall and it made no difference. I start a major project for a local high school on Friday and I am in trouble.
Any ideas?

Sorry, but the more I try using Photoshop the more problems I find. Every time I try to switch workspace, I get an error "Could not apply the workspace because the file is already in use or was left open by another application." I get this error even before I open any file or if a file is open in Photoshop.
It only lets me work in Essentials.
I can't open any RAW files because I don't have the latest RAW updates.. This is a disaster

In the meantime, can you post a screenshot of your preferences for External Editors in Lightroom?

Additionally, here are some basic troubleshooting steps which may help:

Since I wrote above, I uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled it on my D drive. I can now switch workspaces but can not update

If you switch the top Edit in Photoshop CS6 option to 8-bit, does it work?

If you specify an external editor for the second "Custom" external editor, does that work?

The system seemed to be back to normal when Joshi hung up, but it is now doing what it did before. When I try to move a photo to Photoshop from Lightroom, Photoshop opens but I get the error message I was getting before. Also, when try to do updates for other Adode Creative suite programs, I get a U44M11200 error.
The above suggestions seem to have no effect.

I also can't switch work spaces again just like before. Which ever one I am in, I am stuck there.

Just to let you know, after 2 more hours with Abhishek on the phone, the problem persists. I'm becoming convinced it has to do with the missing Javascript plug in being missing from Photoshop, but don't know how that can be reinstalled. We have uninstalled and reinstalled PS several times.

He said a tier 2 tech should call me Monday (unless you have an idea on the plug in)

Jeffery,

It may be because it's Veteran's Day, but still no call. Is it possible to confirm that I will be getting a call and if so what day? I am in th middle of a big project and need to do some things outside the home and don't want to miss their call.

Thanks again

Jeffery,

Wanted to give you an update. I got a call yesterday from Abhishek telling me I would be getting a call today from whoever is working on my problem. As of 3:30 PM today local time, I have heard nothing more. This is the fourth day in a row I have stayed home waiting for a followup call.
I would just like a definitive date and time to expect a follow up or should I assume nothing more will be done? I just can't continue to stay here waiting for a nonexistant phone call.
