I would like to see a camera profile for the Canon EF 500mm F4 IS lens both current and the newer version when it comes out. The 500mm F4 IS lens has been out for some time and it's certainly more common and popular than the 600mm lens which does have a profile available

I have three comments:

- These superteles are so close to optically perfect that there's just not much to do to them
- It's really difficult to make a profile for a long lens. You need a very big space and a very small test chart
- You might try using the profile for the 600/4, as any minor effects it has are probably not far different from those of the 500/4.

Thanks for the response. I don't agree. Virtually every other Canon lens has a profile so I don't think this lens is "close to optically perfect". Secondly, why would I use a profile for a different lens-that's as much a guess as not using any lens profile. Finally, if a profile for a 600 mm lens can be made then the space required for a 500mm lens would be shorter.

I have to say I was a bit surprised when the 3.5 release came out and this lens was still missing...

If it's really that important to you, just make it yourself. I did a 400mm lens in my living room by printing out a very small test chart.
