Just as an update, I just now signed in successfully, with no extra steps to debug. I just re-tried to sign in with normal username and password and it worked. Maybe a server-side issue that had a hiccup?

Michael, are you on Mac or Windows? Did you reset computer or anything? I'm still getting the error and just wondered if there's anything else I should try.

My desktop is Windows 8.1 - hadn't yet tried on my Macbook (Mavericks) - will get to that in the next day or two.

I did install the Windows 8.1 Update last night too - the one that came out yesterday. I don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Just for fun i hit the "Create an Adobe ID". It then came up saying there was a problem contacting the server. Anyone else have this same problem? Still no luck logging in.

Have been running some debug code with Adobe. They are taking this serious and are looking for what is causing it. So far no luck. I still get the same error, and we have not been able to find exactly what the culprit is. More troubleshooting tomorrow...

After reading the above posts, I updated and tried my Macbook Pro (As my iMac is my work machine), and it logged right in.

iMac still no go on EITHER logging in (Nil Value Error) or "Create an Adobe ID" button (giving back unable to find server error). For some reason lightroom just can't access the network on the iMac, even though they are both going through the same wireless router and modem.

Even tried hot spotting my phone to make sure it wasn't wireless settings and same result. Yes on Macbook Pro, No on iMac.

I'm currently pouring over network settings on both machines trying to find any discrepancies.

Don't waste your time. Wait until Adobe patches the problem in their software code or server configuration what ever the issue maybe.

Exactly the same issue here - LR 5.4 on OSX 10.9.2 running on a late 2013 Macbook Pro.

Can't sign in to my CC account via LR, and create account button fails with a cannot reach the server message.

Is there any update...?

Signed in just fine with the LR mobile app.

Everybody who has trouble signing in...

Did some more debug work with Adobe.

Can you all check you computer name? If you have none, try adding one - "System Preferences", then "Sharing".

Make sure you have a name in there. Once I added one, LR5.4 connected fine...

Yes, the engineer I worked with did mention they are looking into how best to roll out a fix for this. Keep in mind that for the vast majority of users, it worked fine all along - we are a very small minority of users that have (had!) this issue, so I think we need to commend Adobe for assigning engineers to look into this and help us resolve it...

I for one am grateful they didn't just dismiss our issue due to the small number of cases!

Holy cow! I had *just* reset my network and sharing preferences the previous day because of other problems I was having. I did notice, yesterday, that my hostname was showing up as "localhost" so I went back in and added a name in the Sharing panel. I didn't connect that to my login working again. Good catch!

Yes. Same here. While I am not actually editing photographs on the iPad (no calibrated screen etc...), using it to go through a collection and find first- and second-round rejects etc is a great workflow improvement for me!

This is not a fix but a nice workaround for now. Sad news Apple just pushed Adobe's new updated app 'Creative Portfolio' version 2.30. Signed in with my Adobe ID and it crashes. I closed application and relaunched and crashes again. Come on Adobe test and test again thoroughly before releasing any update please.

Poras,
The logging output you have above is very different from that for which the Computer Name fix works.

Can you double check that the sign in error you are seeing is exactly the same as what is in the screenshot for this post?

In the meantime, I'll be taking a closer look at your logs.

Thanks,
Matt

Poras,
Your output contains this in it around when I expect we'd be trying to connect for signing in:

"Could not connect to the server"

Are you sure you don't have a proxy or firewall set up that may be interfering with outgoing connections? Specifically, you're going to need to be able to access

https://api.adbecrsl.com/v1.0/account...

and
