Cannot select text with the type tool when a vector layer is already selected.

An alert module appears saying “Could now use the type tool because of a program error”.

Hi Luke,

Can you tell me more about the problem you're having?

Are you trying to do text in a shape or on a path? Or are you just trying to edit text on a completely different layer than the vector object? Something else?

I've tried to find a problem here on both Win and Mac, but am not seeing anything. What OS are you running? What version of Photoshop?

Thanks,
David

In my scenario I have multiple vector and text layers.

If I have a vector layer selected in the layers panel, choose the type tool, and click on some text to edit it, rather than selecting the text layer and editing the text, that modal will come up.

In short, it is when I try and edit existing text (not on a vector path or in a shape), and I have a vector layer selected in the layers.

I am using Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 on OSX Mavericks, 64-bit I believe.

Odd...

I've tried all sorts of things, but cannot repro this. If you are interested, we can do a web-hosted screenshare so I can see what's going on and try and help get to the bottom of this. All you need is an internet connection (and a phone line if you don't have a microphone). I'll follow up with an email, if you're up for it.

Thanks,
David

I’m an annoying bug reporter... I can’t reproduce the problem either now.

Let’s call it an anomaly.

The fix: restart your Mac.
