So i got this CANNOT REPAIR CORRUPT CATALOG screen when it froze on me during editing. IT was stuck for quite a long time and to be honest it's been doing this for about a month and i'm trying to figure out why. I think it's my new EHD . I disconnected it and my new iMac would run fine, but plug in my EHD i would have PS freeze adn LR freeze on me. Any ideas why? OR now how to i fixed my corrupted LR? I have a clone copy on my EXH as well as time machine if this helps.
THANKS ! ANGELA

If I set you up with a way to FTP me your catalog, can you do that?

I just got help with this issue and time machine helped me restore LR. Feww. Thank you for your willingness to help. I love time machine. Do you have any ideas on why LR would freeze on me? My tech and I have narrowed it down to my EHD. I've not had any problems until he installed time machine and clone my computer on my EHD. If that makes sense. If i unplug my EHD i don't have any problems and I tried this for 4 days. Then i plugged in my EHD back in and worked for about 4 hours and then tried to export some items out of LR and it froze. I couldn't force quite any app that was open and had to shut off my computer with the power. I know i don't like to do that but i can't force quite anything. There is a color wheel that replaces my cursor and nothing works...for hours. So, i press the power button to off my computer and when i turn it on it's fine...until last sunday night. It wouldn't load and LR was corrupted. Any ideas i did wrong to make it freeze or ??? It's not just LR that it does it with...i have CS5 and while in the bridge it would do it too. I do have LR and Email and Safari open too.

He also mentioned to get the lasted updated downloads. I have Lightroom 2..bought it 2 yrs ago. Should i upgrade to 3? or ??

Thanks! ANGELA

Definitely upgrade to Lr3, regardless of outcome with corrupt catalog.

Lr3 is better for you because its better,
Lr3 is better for Adobe because it provides income for future improvements,
Lr3 is better for fellow users because they reap the rewards of those future improvements.

Its what's known as a "win, win, win" situation.

The same problem just happened to me and I do have a backup from the last time I started LR. Would you mind giving me the step by step of what you did to fix?
I also am using LR 2...

Thanks so much!

My tech guy installed a new EHD and loaded Time Machine and a Clone copy to it. Since then using my adobe products...LR more than PS...they have been freezing up. I have to use the power to shut it off and then turn it on. Lately it would happen 2 to 3 times a day. So..he told me to take off my EHD. So i unplugged it for 4 days and my computer was fine. So, he thinks it is a bad EHD.
So he just had me go back before my crash on time machine to restore my LR. Do you have Time machine? if not... i recommend it. Sorry..if i didn't have it i would have lost it all. He also recommended to install any updates with LR and PS and or update to the newest versions.
HOpe you can fix it. I'm sorry..i know how you fell. AJ

Is it worth posting a persistent note somewhere - what to do if your catalog gets hosed?

Maybe add as topic to the "paper" about backing up?
