I am trying Elements 10 for the first time. I have an iMac running Mac OSX 10.7 I have all my photos in a number of folders which I wish to import.. I use File/Get Photos and Videos/From Files and Folders. I select the the Folder which contains the photos and then select all the photos I wish to import, and hit "Get Media".. ( The "Copy Files on Import" option is selected) The import
proceeds with all photos imported successfully. HOWEVER, it seems that while the photos were imported they have not been copied. They show as been still linked to original location. It's worth noting that the option "Copy Files on Import" while selected, cannot be deselected as it is grayed out. Any suggestions would be appreciated as I really like the look and feel of Elements.

Hi Tony,

Can you please tell me where your original photos (or folders) are located?

If your folders are located on your system's internal disk then 'copy files on import' options is greyed out. It is greyed out as this option has no effect on importing from internal drive. It indicates 'since your files are already on system's internal drive, there is no point in copying'.

In case your folders are located on external hard drive/removable drive/CD or DVD then this option will be enabled. In case you check this while importing, then EO will copy these files to a pre-defined location (defined in Preferences->Files-> Folder for saved files). In case this is unchecked then EO will simply import them and when you remove the source of import (CD/DVD/External drive/removable drive), imported files will become offline.
