Cannot validate gmail for use within Lightroom

In order to validate gmail for use within Lightroom I must change Google settings to "allow less secure apps" so that, according to Google, my "account is no longer protected by modern security standards." Lightroom needs to be reprogrammed to provide more security as per Google.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Failed email validation from Lightroom.

Tried to send photos from Lightroom but validation continues to fail. After checking and trying a number of times it still will not validate giving the same message each time: "Failed to establish connection with the outgoing email server. Please make sure you have entered the email account and password correctly.

Apparently this is a fairly common problem as I have found a number of strings about this issue. The only solution offered to date seems to require weakening my gmail security settings. Some people have done this though while others, myself included, are not prepared to do this. Is Adobe planning to fix this problem?
