Lightroom Classic: cannot add or save photos

Hi,
If I try and add photos using the Lightroom CC for my desktop I get an error: "Some photos were not added" and "Unable to copy file". It says "some" photos but it is actually for all photos. I mostly use dng files but have the same issue with jpg. The problem occurs if I try to add photos from my hard drive or from an SD card.

And if I try to save photos from the desktop version of Lightroom to a hard drive it does nothing for ages with "Saving..." written in the top left-hand corner. Sometimes it will then give me an "unable to save file" error (or something like that - I can't remember the exact wording).

I can add photos using the browser version of Lightroom CC. I think I can also save photos using the browser version, but only one at a time.

Any help or insights very gratefully received!
thanks,
Paul

What is your Platform and OS Version?

The first stop would be to check and make certain you have full read/write privileges for your User Account for the drive/folder where you are attempting to write the images.

If the read/write permissions are ok, then a screen shot of your error message posted in this thread would be the next step.

Thanks for that, much appreciated. I spent a couple of hours with an Adobe person on the end on the keyboard yesterday and got it going. They ended up doing a very thorough uninstall and then reinstalled it. Apparently some files were missing and reinstalling it did the trick. Great to have it working properly!
