There are only two options: "Check all", and "Uncheck all". The "new images" link has no functionality. I want to be able to hold CTRL or Command on Mac, and select the photos I want to import, and while it allows me to use Command to "select" the images I want, it does not put a check in the check box to actually select them! This sucks. I have to go through Image Capture to select and import the newer images into my computer, and then import/(add them from their location) into Lightroom for editing. I don't have the kind of volume where I'd need to format my cards after each shoot, so that way "all photos" would need to be imported. I add onto my cards until I need to make room. However, "how much" someone shoots is completely irrelevant here.
If I import from a camera, I only get to either import all images, or check the one's I want to import manually. But If I had 300 "new" images it would take days and a new pair of eyes to select them manually one by one!
If I select "new images", I get the same exact options. I select them holding down the command key, but they're not selected, the "check" isn't there in the box, and so the "import button" remains grayed out! When I hold down the Command key that check button should appear so I can import the images I need into my computer.
The same happens when importing from a local folder:
I am not sure why this hasn't been addressed in all the updates since the first version, but this is a basic function that should be there.
