Elements 13: Can Organizer be used with a Synology Network Attached Storage?

I can not find a straight answer to the simple question of "can Photoshop Elements 13 or 14 access images and a catalog on a Synology model DS213j or any type of networked attached storage (NAS)?". Does anyone know? I'm using Windows 10, version 1511, build 10586.164.

I've read the PSE manual and it did not directly address this question. If PSE can't make use of an NAS, except for backing up, then I'll stop wasting my money on PSE and find a modern alternative.

Thanks!

It can use any working network server.  But officially it does not support network servers because we've seen too many problems with them (due to network config, server config, server bugs, etc.).

Page 3: After selecting Reconnect and manually searching for the file, the correct photo is shown on both sides of the panel, but selecting the Reconnect button between them does nothing and eventually Elements times out.

Chris, did you look at the 3 Elements screen dumps I posted? Are you or anyone at Adobe looking at this problem? I've been in contact with Synology support, sending them NAS logs and configuration information and they don't see a problem with my NAS.

Thanks.

Yeah, and they have nothing that tells us about the permissions and configuration of the server.
Unless Elements QE can reproduce this, it would have to be debugged by yourself or Synology (who would have the most information about their server configuration and implementation).
Since your NAS is not operating correctly as a filesystem and gives errors that it shouldn't -- yeah, there is a problem with your NAS.

Chris, Synology Supports asks this question: Is there is a way to make sure Elements will use a NAS user account to access mapped folder, instead of using the Windows credentials?

Does this mean anything to you and does it offer something I can test?

Thanks

No, because the application doesn't know anything about the NAS accounts, only the Windows user account and permissions (and they should already know this).  The OS and server do the mapping between OS accounts and NAS accounts.
