I have PSE 10, running on windows 7 pro. It worked fine till 2 days ago, I think after a windows update. now it opens and immediately crashes with microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Runtime error! Program, included here.
I have
1. run tweaking,com program
2. run tweakbit
3. reinstalled pse
4. paid an online geek company to fix it
5. tried system restore but my my machine (lenovo T450s) reports it can't do the restore.
While getting my new copy of PSE from Adobe, the woman I dealt with said to contact you guys online. I am hoping you can help!

What does the detailed crash report say (look in the system event viewer or reliability reports, we need the name of the faulting module)

Yep, somehow the XML parser is crashing on launch.

Have you tried resetting preferences? (either by deleting the folder, or holding down control-alt-shift while launching)

I couldn't find the preferences folder, but I did the control-alt-shift while launching, and told it to delete the folder, which I assume it did. Biut I got the same error message.
One new development: The "Integrated Camera Preview Manager" icon -- which I had never seen before -- came up when I restarted the laptop. When I clicked on it to see what it did, it says "Main (not responding).

That's a driver for the camera built into your laptop, and has nothing to do with Elements.

UPDATE!! i found some add'l advice here, http://mgxp.blogspot.com/2011/10/runt...
I found MediaDatabase.db3 by searching (it didn't show up via explorer) and renamed it MediaDatabase.old. Seems to have done the trick for now. I covered my eyes when I relaunched, and peered between two fingers, and it opened and stayed open.... Thanks for your help and time....

re the camera driver, i thought it was for the laptop camera, but it had never shown up before, and it doesn't work. thought it just might have been part of the universe of weird changes on my laptop.
