Well, first you should update to ACR 8.5 - the latest release.

I'm on ACR 8.5, and no crop tool.

Is this deliberate? Is it a bug? Did someone at Adobe forget to include the most fundamental of photo processes?

Seems like a crazy omission to me.

OK - that's weird...if I edit a RAW image from Lightroom in Photoshop, it opens it not via the ACR thing. If I then apply ACR as a filter, there's no crop tool. If I open it from the Finder, it opens into ACR, with the crop tool right there.

So, Christopher - open the image from the Finder (or the Windows desktop equivalent of Finder) and the crop tool should re-appear.

Paul, when I open the image from the desktop, it's the same thing, there is no crop tool in ACR 8.2 / 8.5.

Sounds like an incomplete installation of ACR/Photoshop.

The problem has been solved, it wasn't an incomplete installation, rather how I was opening the file in RAW.
