I am having a problem, I work with Photoshop CS6 and had no problems before, I changed to a Nikon D3300 camera last week and at first tried to open a raw file and it did not work; I run adobe updater and updated CAMERA RAW...

I was able to open raw files for a couple of days; now they can't open and I get a message to update camera raw from the menu help and updates. or visit a web site for assistance...

Well tried everything and even manually downloaded and installed Camera Raw 9.0 and they still won't open and I get the same message!

Pleas ehelp, I need to work

The Nikon D3300 was first supported by LR 5.4 and ACR 8.4 so ACR 9.0 should be ok.

What may be a problem is that newer ACR versions have a more recent OS version requirement and may not actually be installing on your computer.

What does Help / About Plug-ins / Camera Raw show for its version in PS-CS6?

What OS do you have?

A further issue could be that transferring or viewing NEFs with obsolete Nikon software (Nikon Transfer, ViewNX, etc) that came with a previous Nikon camera may slightly corrupt the NEFs making them unrecognizable to Adobe software.

The way to test for this is to use an OS function (Finder, Explorer) to transfer the images from the camera or card and see if those open ok. If so, then you can use a utility from the following webpage to fix the already transferred images:

Windows 7

Well thank you sir, I actually was working with ViewNX I had installed from my previous camer D3100...

As it turns out, your second option was the right one (aparently) and yes It seem to have been corrupting the files because none of them were working, just the jpegs.

Lucky me, I did not erase the memory card for a whle photoshoot and were able to copy the files with explorer and then with the newer version of ViewNX...

NEF files seem to work now, at least Photoshop opens them normally... (so far)

Thank you for that answer!
