Build previews, write metadata: movie files LightRoom 6

When building standard previews in lightroom 6, it gets stuck when processing mp4 movie files. (Maybe other formats as well, but I haven't tested it.) The app just sits there trying to do something it doesn't know how to do! The workaround I am using is to filter out all the movie files, then select all and build previews. Would be nice, if this happened automatically.

I have also had similar issues when writing metadata to file. movies formats are not supported, but it seems to cause the whole precess to hang.

Hmm, that doesn't happen in my catalog. There must be something particular about your configuration or .mp4 files.

Ditto. In my LR 6.0.1, when I do Metadata > Save Metadata To Files, if the selection includes formats for which LR doesn't support writing metadata, it pops up a window:

Perhaps there are one or more "poison" .mp4 files that are tripping up LR?

Seems like my problems run a little deeper. I can't view, preview or import any movie files I have (avi, 3gp, mp4, mv4, mov). LR5 is fine, LR6 is non-functional in this respect.

Using OS X 10.10.3 with LR6 6.0.1
