BUG - LR4 beta - DNG - Metadata - Smart Collection
LR4 beta.
Mac OSX 10.7.2,

I’ve set up such a smart collection "[Metadata status] [is] [Has Been Changed]”. so that I can see when changes have been made which need to be written into the dng/xmp file.

The problem is this....

I have 10 images whose status indicate that metadata has been changed.

I select all and Cmd+S to save/write the changes to the (dng) file. One by one the images are removed from the smart collection as data is written to file.

Without doing anything else, I now wait 8-10 seconds and watch as those same 10 images, one by one, reappear within the smart collection

Does the status of those files revert back to "Has been changed"?

LR 3 exhibited similar symptoms -- sometimes after you saved metadata, it would quickly forget that and indicate that the metadata still needed saving. Disappointing to see that it still occurs in LR 4 beta.

Do you have line breaks (new lines) in your captions or other fields, by any chance? That was one way to trigger the problem in LR 3.
