Bug in DNG Converter 8.6 - XMP data does not get applied

There is a severe bug in Version 8.6 of the DNG Converter (Windows version tested on different systems).

It just does not take over XMP data from sidecar files anymore into the generated DNGs.

As a result the previews embedded into the DNGs are flat as well, any former edits are not being applied.

Up to version 8.5 everything worked as expected, this behavior is new in 8.6.

The expected behavior is:
1.) Any XMP metadata associated to the RAW files should be embedded into the resulting DNGs
2.) The preview for the DNG should be generated with development-settings from the XMP applied.

Adobe, please fix this ASAP! Thank you!

Are you in a situation where you cannot use the previous version of the DNG Converter 8.5 which doesn't have the bug, like you have a new D810?

I'd guess it'll just come out in the next release cycle in a few months.

I've a D810 and I guess I'm not the only one...

But if I could get a definitive statement from Adobe saying that they are taking this seriously and will fix it in the next release, that would certainly be appreciated.

A reply by an Adobe Employee with Camera Raw Engineer after their name is about as serious as you can get.

Sometimes they'll put Acknowledged or In Progress or Solved next to a problem item but those usually have dozens of replies and probably used by many more people.

They did investigate enough to determine that the workaround is to use the ACR Plug-in to create your DNGs.

Have you found the corrected camera profiles for the D810?

Thanks, good to know Adobe fixed them - but I personally never use those profiles.

Is it possible to install the 8.5 version after the update to 8.6 was done?
I would like to revert to 8.5 as this didn't have this problem, but I don't know if there's any risc in doing that?

Yes, uninstall the DNG Converter 8.6, then find the older version(s) at the DNG Converter section on the Adobe Updates page:

Thanks. This might be a silly question, but how do I uninstall DNG Converter 8.6? I am working on a Mac.

Bug is fixed internally and will be included in the next public release of the DNG Converter.
