Hardware: MacBook Pro Retna 2.7GHz 16GB RAM 768GB Flash Storage
LaCie 2TB USB 3 drive
LaCie Rugged 500GB USB 3 drive

Photoshop CS 6 Extended with Camera Raw 7.1 and 7.2rc
Lightroom 4.1 and 4.2rc Catalog on Flash Storage

Scenario 1: With CR2 (Canon 5D mkIII), DNG and PSD files on Mac Flash Drive (SSD):

Bridge: double clicking file correctly opens image in Photoshop

mini-Bridge: images do not open in Photoshop when they are double-clicked
images open correctly in Photoshop when they are dragged into Photoshop

LR "Edit in Photoshop": Launches Photoshop but no image appears in Photoshop

Scenario 2: With same files on external USB 3 drives (either one):

Bridge, mini-Bridge and LR "Edit in Photoshop" work correctly.

This is a really long shot, but what's the full file path for the files on the SSD? I'm wondering if there's a problem character somewhere in a folder name.

Victoria,

Macintosh HD/Users/jlb/Pictures/ then each individual directory for the photos

On the external drives: Pictures/ then each individual directory for the photos

The structure (directory names) below Pictures is the same on the SSD and external drives. The directories were simply copied to the external drives in the Pictures folder.

Hmmmmm, ok, it's unlikely to be that then. Have you tried a different user account? I'm wondering if there's some odd permissions problem.

I haven't tried a different user account. I have LR4 & CS6 also installed on a Windows NT x64 machine. Everything works fine on that platform.

I have tried installing and reinstalling LR & Photoshop a number of times on the SSD. I just moved all the images to the external drives.

I am at the license limit with both products. I will try deauthorizing the two and creating a new user account to see if that works.

As you may gather this is a fresh installation on a fresh machine. The behavior was the same on OS X 10.7.4, 10.8.0 and now 10.8.1.
