Bug (?): Smart Objects > Edit Contents works differently depending if you used Menu or hotkey ("Read Composite data?" message)

When I try to edit a smart object by using a custom hotkey for "Smart Objects>Edit Contents", it produces a weird idiosyncracy that doesn't occur if I select the same command from the menu (Layer>Smart Objects>Edit Contents), or if I double click on the Smart Object icon in the Layers Palette.

If (and only if) I use the hotkey, I usually get the popup shown below. The message on the popup is vague, and I don't understand what it means. But it doesn't seem to matter anyway, because the smart object will successfully open regardless of whether I hit OK or Cancel.

I'm using Photoshop CC 2018 (19.0) on Windows 10. But I've experienced this problem for years, in previous versions of Photoshop and on different Windows installs. Each time there's a new version of Photoshop, I try and see if the problem is fixed, but it's still there (some other previous annoyances have been fixed though - great work on CC 2018 overall!)

I really hope you fix this issue - I use smart objects all the time, and probably need to open them hundreds of time a day! As it currently stands, there's no truly fast and convenient way to open them: using the menu is time-consuming, clicking the tiny icon in the layers palette is fiddly, and dealing with this popup after using a hotkey is distracting.

Thanks in advance
