Photoshop: Smart objects automatically resizing

I am having a bug with Photoshop where Smart Objects automatically resize and stretch on their own. After speaking to support, I have been told that this is a known issue from Photoshop CS6, and to post here about a fix.
  • The issue only seems to happen when I have a Photoshop file with several Smart Objects. Each Smart Object is from an Illustrator file with multiple artboards.
  • It only happens when there are multiple illustrator artboards.
  • The bug will stretch the Smart Objects disproportionately every time I edit the Illustrator file.
  • Once the bug starts happing to a file it will happen all the time and will continue to happen even if the file is opened on another computer (regardless of OS or Windows)
See the video as an example..

I'm having the same issue - when I open an illustrator ai file as a smart object its stretching them. But mine dont have multiple artboards, they're just logos.

Eps files are okay, because you have the option of selecting "Constrain Porportions", but ai and pdf files are where its going skewered.

(Mac OS, Catalina, Photoshop 2020)

A have this issue on the new version with a PSD Smart Object, but only when a resize this PSD Smart.... when a make a canvas resize for a sample, after save and back to the original PSD, the smartobject lost the aspec ratio.

smartobject have a 1080x1080px... if resize to 1920x1080.. save... go back to the main PSD. the aspect ratio keeps a 1:1 and not resize to 16:9 (in the % bar the values is different)
