Using the SYNC button to change type 1 to type 4 resets all sliders to 0 zero, effectively erasing thousands of hours of edits.

Updating one image at a time works nicely
Updating multiple images using the lightening bolt under the histogram works nicely
Updating using the Sync button, updates but reset sliders to Zero, cancelling all previous edits (

Can you walk us through - step by step how you perform "Updating using the Sync button, updates but reset sliders to Zero, cancelling all previous edits ("? I would like to attempt to reproduce what you are seeing.

1. Enter Develop Module
2. Select an image
3. Use Select-Update to Current Process
4. Ctrl+A to select all images
5. Press Sync
6. Uncheck all options except - Process Version
7. Click Synchronize

Images are updated to Process 4 and all slides (except the first one) have their sliders set to Zero

I just tested on 20 images Marvin and do not see what you are seeing. The sliders remained intact after clicking Synchronize in step 7.  I also tested on a full catalog of 105 images.  Neither exhibit the result you are seeing.

How many images are in your selection in step 4?

I tried with 2 and dozens, both failed.  Version 3 to 4 works fine with Sync.  1 to 4 does not.  I didn't have 2 to test.

Yes as Robert pointed out Lightning bolt works, but this is a work around.  Sync should work for 1 to 4, just as it works for  3 to 4.

Rikk,

I was able to duplicate the sync bug/glitch  but only going from Process Version 1 (didn't test 2) to Process version 4.  Sync seems to work correctly going from 3 to 4.  See this thread for more info.   https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2505333.  It probably has to do with Lightroom having to reanalyze each image going from 1 and 2 to 4 because of the different sliders and not when going from 3 to 4.

The lightning bolt works correctly on multiple files and is actually a much easier method.

My test went from PV 3 to 4.

Given the vast difference between 1-2 and 3-4,  I would expect sliders to be reset - because several sliders are added and other are deprecated in that move.

When you update PV this warning should appear advising that you have a severe change possible and that only one image should be updated at a time.

The lightning bolt does all the images without resetting the sliders. It must be using an algorithm to TRY to match the old and new sliders as closely as possible so the capability is built into Lr The SYNC operation just resets to zero and skips the algorithm
