Lightroom CC 2015.6.1: Portrait images (jpegs) are distorted immediately after Import

Upon import in Lightroom 6.1 OS X, fully half of the portrait images are distorted in that the frame is in portrait mode, which is correct, but the image itself is distorted into a landscape image and fit into the portrait frame.  It takes hours for all of the images to "right themselves" after selecting all.  An alternative is to select each image, one at a time, but when performing an import of several thousand images, this is not sustainable.

6.1? Or 6.6.1? You can check in Help menu > System Info.

If 6.1, please update and report back if you're still having the same problem.

If 6.6.1, which camera are the files from? And what file type?

Version CC 2015 6.1, which is 6.6.1, simply because the idiots at Adobe can't make up their mind how to number their releases.  It is the latest version, just upgraded a week ago, and that is when this behavior began.  The OS is OS X, version: 10.11.

The files come from various Canon cameras, including the 1D X, 5DsR, and 1D X Mk II.  Apparently, only the .jpg files are affected, which is why I stated that nearly half of the files imported are affected.

I just imported 9,502 files this morning.  It took several hours on a 64GB MacPro with six (6) processors to build the standard previews and right the distorted images.
