Lightroom Classic: Trying to sync - but sync list is empty

I have had this issue for a while now, LR will say it's syncing. But it never completes. It will give me a warning when I exit LR that I have syncs active.

However, sync activity says there are nothing pending:

There appear to be some application state out of sync (no pun intended).

Any known ways to correct this?

Similar results for some time. Just 1 waiting to sync but no sync activity.

Showing an image syncing doesn't necessarily mean it is syncing from Lightroom Classic to the cloud. It may be an image attempting to sync from the Cloud to Lightroom Classic. Log into your Adobe ID at lightroom.adobe.com and double check the All Photos count there against the All Synced Photos count in Lightroom Classic. If the online number is higher, you have an image attempting to sync down - not an image attempting to sync up.  This is an important distinction in troubleshooting your issue and determining where the stuck asset resides.

The All Photos count in Cloud matches the "Uploads" number in LR:

Do LR have a application log that might provide some clues?

Mine is consistent as well, 2562 on both sides. And LR web says "No web sync activity" when I click on the cloud in the upper right.

Could it be related to a mobile client? I have LR on my iPad and on my iPhone.

Thank you both for replying.

In your Catalog panel do either of you see a Sync Error system collection?

As Jeff has done below, do a quick check for missing photos. It is possible that you have 3 photos which are no longer available to Lightroom which were set to sync.  Cross referencing Missing Photos with Synced Photos might lead you to the three.

Lightroom doesn't report any missing images. I ran the "Library > Find Missing Images" function manually to be sure. Said it was all there.

Then let's try to tickle the images and see if we can get them to sync:

One way would be to select the All Synced Photographs in Grid View and hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+ [A] to select all (verify that 2563 photos are selected in the breadcrumbs bar at the bottom above the film strip)  With all images selected - add a keyword "SyncTest" and apply it to all.  This should enforce a sync on all 2563 images. The count should briefly jump up and then count back down and hopefully arrive at zero.

I tried that - but it's strange. It still says "Syncing 3 photos" above my username. And nothing in the Lightroom Sync dialog. But each photo I added a keyword to will display the sync icon and the tooltip will say "Sync with Lightroom CC pending". I exited LR and started it again to see if that would trigger it to update it sync status - but alas.

With Lightroom closed go to /Users/intel/Library/Caches/Adobe/Lightroom/Sync Data/ and rename the Sync.lrdata folder. Restart Lr and it should try to reconcile your local synced data and the cloud synced data. This can take a while depending on your machine, network connection, and the number of synced images.

Any idea where that is on Windows? (Sorry forgot to mention my system)

Renamed the Sync.lrdata folder - restarted LR. Initially displayed 283 photos to sync (as expected). But now settled and stuck on 3 again.

Give it a little time after rebuilding the sync data. An hour or two should tell us if it is still stuck on an asset.

It's still stuck at "Syncing 3 photos".

No, BUT... the number of photos in All Synced Photographs is off by one!

Sorry but what is off by one?

You said earlier that it was 2562 on both sides? What is off by one? Is it one more or one less?

Thanks - that helps. It looks like you have a single asset reported to Lightroom as in a To Sync status but not yet syncing.  Let's see if we can tickle it through.

I think I found it. It seems that one of my mobile uploads is missing (no real loss to me). I rarely use LR on my iPad but was in this case on my last vacation to show my family some photos.

Well,I guess it won't sync if it is missing.  Is it possible you deleted it outside of Lightroom?

Anything is possible but probably not from my computer. Maybe the iPad? I will delete it from this collection and see what happens - after I check the iPad.

Now I need to figure out why all the missing photos. Those actually seem to exist right where they are supposed to be. I'll start a new thread here.

I followed the instructions to shutdown LR/rename the sync.lrdata folder and then let it sync again and wait a while. I made no other changes, didn't edit any files, etc. I took a few with my iPhone not using the LR App.

Now I see:

1) The number of synced photos has magically increased by one to 2564 according to the Catalog in LR Classic - BUT not on LR Web
2) The missing photo (above) has reappeared
3) and I am still showing status of syncing 1 photo in LR classic

So know I have to look for that next missing photo!!!

Hi,

Can you share your catalog and sync.lrdata file through dropbox/wetransfer and share the link with me (ragrawal@adobe.com). Zip the files before uploading.

Do you need the catalog including all the images? (Because mine is many GBs large... don't have space for dropbox to host that.....)

I just zipped the lrcat file and the contents of sync.lrdata. These should be reasonably small after zipping.

Hi Thomas, I didn't get any mail from you. I don't know if it was filtered through some spam filter but can you please send me the link again.

Also i missed earlier, can you guys send me the Diagnostic logs also. Let Lr run for ~5 mins at least before generating it.

It would probably be a good idea to add something to Classic that would allow users to know what the missing synced files are... Save you guys some support headaches.

There is a sync tab in the preference panel which usually shows the sync activity along with the files involved. Something like this:

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Lightroom CC: Syncing 4 photos ... forever.

Lightroom is trying to sync 4 pictures... forever... There are no other pictures tu sync.

I've tried to reboot LR, but did not help.

All my mobile devices (iPhone and iPad) are synced as expected.

Again! I've let LR sync for the night and NOTHING happens. I've 800 pictures awaiting for sync since yesterday evening, I've rebooted the app several times yesterday because nothing was happening.

There is no load on the processor, no smart preview are being rendered.

LR doesn't upload ANYTHIN to the servers:

WHEN WILL LR SYNC CORRECTLY???
