Photoshop: Brushes and such deleted

I did the Photoshop update that I had available yesterday and all of my brushes and actions disappeared...

Kristy, chances are the install left the preferences directory intact. if you look it may still be there and you can copy it or whatever brushes, actions you want over.

C:\Users\Steven\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\ either 2015 or 2017 as you didn't say what the previous version was.

If you have a backup program I would include the preferences directory in it along with workspaces if you have a custom one.  I hope I've helped you.

Thank you John, Yes. All of my old actions are in my 15.5 folder, but none of my brushes. I have searched everywhere, they are all gone. Guess that will teach me to back up my files.

This may sound strange. After creating the brushes, did you go into the preset manager and save it to a set. I learned the hard way that just creating a brush doesn't save it to the preference file. you need to save it to the default brushes or your own set.

Yeah, I have been making them for years. I had a pc crash last year and guess I did not think I would have to worry about it again with a new pc, so didn't back up the folder. So even ones I have purchased and installed were deleted.
