Elements 12: Brush menu closing when it shouldn't

Hello, I just purchased PSE 12. Although I'm not a big fan of the retro look, the functionality and improvements seem solid...except for one problem. The brush selection menu randomly closes when I'm trying to select a different set of brushes. I click on the dropdown menu and start to point to a brush set, and the menu closes. It's driving me NUTS!!!!! It happens whether I'm using the paintbrush, pencil, eraser; anything that uses a brush menu. PLEASE fix this bug, it's enough to make me regret upgrading

Hi Greg,

What OS/version are you running on? Are you using a tablet at all?

Hi Jeffrey. I'm using Windows 8 on a Sony Vaio laptop. I upgraded from Elements 10, which was running with no issues. Everything else seems to be fine, just the brush menus. But I've only been using it for a day and haven't got deep into the workings yet. Thanks for the reply

Just to confirm, you're using the track pad to navigate and click? or is this a touch/pen input enabled device?

It's not touch or input pen enabled. I'm using the mouse or the track pad. It happens with either input

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, it didn't help. I've also resorted to trying to use the arrow keys to scroll through the brushes. Still no go, the menu closes seemingly at random.

Another issue I've run across. When accessing PSE 12 from Lightroom, I receive about 12 error messages for Handle Window Font procedure could not be located for different filters.

I'm having the exact same problem, it is also driving me nuts. I have about .2 seconds to select the brush before the menu closes, which is just about enough time to barely select one if I'm lucky. Here is my system info. If anyone know's any tips it would be greatly appreciated...

I just fixed it, I don't know how or why it worked. I opened the brush menu and instead of scrolling, I used the arrow keys to select my brush. After that it calmed down and I can select it with the mouse or arrows without it closing. Not positive that's what fixed it, but it's working now...

Have you looked into this any more? Please get this fixed soon. Photoshop without different brushes is worthless.

I have the same problem with Photoshop Elements 12, tried it on Windows 7 (64 Bit) and Windows 8.1 (32 Bit).

Also, I have activated floating windows, if I move a window, I have to drop it at the new position in seconds, if not, the mouse looses the window an it returns to the original position. I think this is related, looks like a focus problem to me.

The interesting thing: first I installed it in german language, no problem there, later I unstalled it and installed it again, this time in english, now I have the problems.
