Photoshop 21.1: Brush stroke shift behavior for constrain

You used to constrain the brush to 0 or 90 degrees by "clicking then holding down shift and dragging" resulting in a constrained brush stroke for as long as you held the shift key.

Since 21.1.0 the action for me seems to have changed, now you have the hold down shift, click and then drag.

This interferes with and sometime results in the same action as "clicking and then shift clicking" to draw a straight line between two points.

Can we go back to legacy (like the legacy free transform check box) ?

Do you have 21.1.1 installed? There was an update that went live early this AM. Let me know of you're still having issue after installing the update. Thanks.
